This tour was amazing from start to finish! It was just me and a friend, and we had a private boat all to ourselves — definitely worth it. The driver picked us up at 6am from our hotel and stayed in touch on WhatsApp, which made things super easy. Everything was really organized, and we felt taken care of the whole time.

Best Time to Visit Apo Island

The best time to visit Apo Island is generally during the dry months from December to May, when the waters are clearer and boat rides are more predictable. The island is accessible year-round, and marine life—including its famous sea turtles—can be seen in every season. Travelers may still go during the rainy months, but it’s best to avoid trips when storms or typhoons are forecast. Plan to leave early in the morning and return to Dumaguete before late afternoon, as waves tend to get stronger. Expect bigger crowds during summer, weekends, and holidays.

What to Pack for Apo Island

  • Personal snorkeling gear (rentals are available on the island, but bringing your own is more convenient)

  • Action camera for underwater shots

  • Light snacks or packed food

  • Tumbler and plenty of drinking water

  • Enough cash for fees and rentals

  • Dry bag for your personal items

  • Sun protection (sunscreen, hat, rashguard)

  • A change of clothes

Where to Stay in Negros Oriental

  • Hotels and resorts located in Dauin or Zamboanguita is better.

How to Get to Apo Island From Manila

A trip to Apo Island from Manila starts with a direct flight to Dumaguete. Flights depart from NAIA Terminal 3 and land at Sibulan Airport after about 1 hour and 30 minutes. From the airport, take a short tricycle ride (around 10 minutes) to reach Dumaguete City proper.

From the city, you can head to Malatapay by bus, habal-habal, or a private car rental—each with its own convenience and cost. Travel time from Dumaguete to Malatapay Market is roughly 30 minutes. Once there, proceed to the boat station by the shore and take a 30-minute boat ride to Apo Island.

Apo Island Budget & Sample Costs

A half-day DIY trip to Apo Island usually costs less than private tour, and while using public transport and public boats can lower the expenses, the limited schedules can be inconvenient and worse no boat available when you arrive at the port—so booking with us is the better choice for a smooth, hassle-free visit.

Price Guide:

  • Rent-a-car or van with driver: ₱3,500/day

  • Private boat (roundtrip): ₱3,500 above

  • Entrance fee: ₱100/pax

  • Turtle watching guide: ₱300/pax

Note: It’s always better to book with us because our team takes care of everything from transportation and boat arrangements to guides and permits, giving you a smooth and worry-free Apo Island experience.
